What does depression feel like?

We are told it varies a lot between individuals. But if you wanted to visualise “the feeling of depression” in photographic images, how could you do it?

The photos of Samantha by the window were taken using natural light coming through the window. For the other photos an additional speedlight with a grid was added to illuminate the model in “an appropriate manner”.
