Headshot photographer for Kingston, Surrey and SW London

Headshots are usually taken for a specific purpose. Most of my headshot clients want either a business headshot, or an actor headshot (or actress headshot).

Part of my job is to understand what my customers need, so I can help deliver what they want.

Actor headshots (also modelling headshot)

Actor headshots have a single purpose. That is to give casting directors a good idea of what you look like.

The editing is optimised for things like correct colour, contrast, exposure etc. Retouching is limited to the removal of temporary blemishes (ie spots and cuts).

Business headshots

Business headshots are more open to artistic interpretation. They are also shot according to the style of photo my customer wants. For example if my customer wants a headshot for jobs in the banking, legal or financial sector, they will probably want a formal headshot wearing a business suit. Often with a dark blue or dark grey background

But other customers might want something that show their personality more, or require a more dramatic look. It all depends on the image they want to project.

All headshots

Part of my job is to understand what my customer needs. We discuss the variables, and I make decisions about backgrounds and lighting.

I haven’t yet had a headshot customer who does not want to look friendly. So part of my job is putting my customers at ease. Most customers arrive feeling they aren’t in control, and I point out that they have a lot of control. I shoot headshots with the camera tethered to the computer so customers can see the photos as they are taken. Nobody will see any photo they don’t like, and we can take photos until my customer is happy.

I can advise customers about clothing, and I encourage customers to bring some alternative tops (obviously we are only shooting above the waist).

Customers decide which images to buy then and there and pay the balance before leaving the studio. Digital files are delivered online (usually by e-mail) and  usually within 24 hours.

Delivery of digital files

Images are provided as high resolution digital files (jpegs) plus smaller files that have been optimised for social media (facebook, instagram and linkedin as required).
