Further information (includes terms and conditions)
I am a portrait photographer who is committed to excellence, and I continually invest in my own professional development. I specialise in providing a friendly bespoke service, and I only use the best professional labs to supply high quality wall art and albums. I pride myself in understanding the wishes of my clients, so I can help you end up with what you want.
The pre-shoot consultation
I strongly recommend all clients take advantage of my optional pre-shoot consultation, which is included in the booking fee. This is when I start to get to know who you are and what you want to achieve from your photo shoot. We can talk about the style of photos you want, and what you will use them for.
I can also offer advice on things like clothes, locations, and baby preparation if appropriate.
The best way of doing a pre-shoot consultation is face to face, but if this is not practical we can do it over the phone.
The photo shoot
Please note the booking fee is non-refundable if you don't show up for your shoot! Please allow at least 24 hours notice if you have to reschedule, otherwise you risk losing your fee (this is at my discretion, because I am aware we can all be struck by situations beyond our control).
I like to allow enough time to achieve what we want without rushing.
Unless agreed otherwise, all viewing will take place in my studio. You will see a projection of your photos, and then we can go through them at a leisurely pace, and you can decide what you want to do with them.
I recommend young children are not brought to viewings if possible, because it is very likely they will get bored, and start being a distraction!
Please make sure all decision makers (including the person who is going to pay) come to the viewing. This is extremely important, because viewings take time, and if it is necessary to book another session because a key person is absent, I will charge ￡100 for a second viewing session.
Usually most, or all, of the photos you see will be “finished and ready for sale”, but in some cases some additional retouching may be required. I will discuss this with you on a case-by-case basis, and if extensive retouching is required I may have to charge for this – but always with your prior approval of course!
This is the time to decide how you want your photos to be seen, and how you want them to be preserved for many years to come. I can talk you through all my products and show you samples. One of our aims is that the presentation of the pictures will fit well with your home décor.
Payment and delivery
Payment needs to be made in full at the time of ordering, so it is very important that the person who is paying is present at the viewing. In all cases, payment in full must be made before delivery of any products.
For clients ordering an album, I will go through the various options at the time of ordering, so you can choose your preferences (eg page size, number of pages, etc). After I have designed your album, I will make a digital proof available for you to inspect. At this time you can make one edit (meaning a range of changes). This will be your only opportunity to make changes.
In the unlikely event a customer changes their mind after the initial order has been made, the customer is liable to a 40% cancellation fee. If the order, or part of the order, has already been sent to the lab, no refund can be given.
Unless otherwise agreed, customers should expect to collect their puchases from the studio.
Ian Trayner will at all times own the copyright of his photographs. Any kind of copying or reproduction of the photographs is forbidden without express written permission from the photographer.
The photographer retains the right to use and publish his photographs, but I do not wish to embarrass shy clients! So if you prefer that I don't use or publish your images, please tell me, and I will be happy to oblige.
Still not sure?
Why don't you come round for a chat in my studio, maybe over a cup of coffee, and we can talk through what you are looking for. There is no obligation to book a shoot, but these informal chats are strictly by prior appointment only.
